About Me:

I am a very motivated person with anything that I do & despise laziness. I saying that though I do enjoy relaxing in front of the TV after a big day at work & a hard training session. I work in the building industry where I started my own business in 1996. This keeps me very busy working 6 days a week.

I train anywhere from 3 to 6 days depending on what phase of training I am in. A session usually lasts for around 60-90min max. I really enjoy the challenge of training legs, particularly squats as I find this the most demanding day of the week.

I first started training when I was 14 after my father bought me a barbell set. I toyed with that on & off but It wasn’t until I was 16 that I first stepped into a gym & was immediately addicted. Since then I have never had any longer than 3 weeks off at any one time. I week is usually enough for me then I am itching to get back into it.

As many were, I was also inspired by Arnie & his movies, my favourite being ‘Predator’. I was fascinated with anything that was fit & muscle. Bruce Lee was a big inspiration & I studied Tae Kwon Do for many years & achieved my first dan black belt. The gym soon took precedence though & I found less & less time for martial arts. I still do enjoy a boxing session every so often.

Surfing is another passion of mine which I find gives me a total different mindset & rest from training whilst at the same time is a great cross trainer & cardio workout.

When it comes to food I guess I am lucky as I don’t have a sweet tooth nor do I crave fatty foods. I eat relatively clean all year round changing the ratios of carbs, protein & fat depending on what phase of training I am in.

Competitions & Achievements:

I first started competing in 1998 after encouragement from friends. It was Robert Powell from the ANB who gave me my first diet & helped me through my contest prep for the Sydney titles. I won my weight division, best routine & overall champion. Even though that was a small show it sticks in my mind as my most memorable to date.

I competed many times after that placing higher each show  at state & national levels until finally winning the ANB Aust. Titles in 2006.

I used this as  a stepping stone to the WNSO Worlds in 2008, Toronto, Canada where I surprised myself & won the amateur World Title.

Inspired by this win I took another 2 yrs off competing to train for the 2010 worlds in Las Vegas.

We had a large Aust team for the 2010 World Tour. Everyone either won or placed. It was such a great atmosphere, not only within the team but amongst all the athletes from around the world.

I placed 3rd in my first Pro show at the WNSO & 4th in the Musclemania 1 week later. It was a great experience living a fairytale lifestyle of training, eating, sleeping competing for 2 weeks. I am now training hard in the hope I can make the needed gains to be more competitive this year. Time will tell.
