About me:

My name is Natasha Hutchinson, I am 20 years old and living in Brisbane, QLD.

My past defines me as a person, my past is what pushes me every day to better myself and help share the love of a healthy lifestyle to others. As a young child I was very active and sporty, you name the sport I did it!!

I developed a love for swimming and was training with an Olympic coach. However, my nutrition side of things was horrid, I ate everything I could get my hands on and was quite the overweight child.

As you know, you cannot out train a bad diet!!! The day my swimming coach told me I was fat in front of every other swimmer and their parents was the day I decided to lose weight, I was mortified and so embarrassed not to mention so young.

I decided to start eating better and was healthily losing weight up until grade 9. Unfortunately things spiralled out of control from then on and I became very sick.

From this age till about 18 years old I suffered severely from anorexia for 2 years and bulimia from then on. All of a sudden here I was obsessed with numbers, obsessed with losing weight and being skinny. At the time I had no idea of the dangers I was putting my body through, I was getting skinny and that’s all that mattered. I plummeted from the starting 82kgs to 45kgs then slowly climbed back up the scales to 70kg when I developed bulimia.

The moment I realised I needed to do something to save myself was when my dad approached me and told me my mum cried herself to sleep every night worrying about me and that they knew everything. My parents mean the world to me and knowing that I was hurting them was the shock I needed to seek help. I got help and councillors and started to get better, but I could never shake it completely.

All I knew was to starve and binge and purge, this was my routine and what I had grown up with.  It wasn’t until I moved to Brisbane and signed up to the gym and got my personal trainer that I started to develop a proper knowledge about food and my body.

My personal trainer, Glenn Kirby taught me everything I ever needed to know and was the one who pushed me into the idea of competing in 2012 and doing my own PT course, he has grown from a PT into a great friend and I cannot speak highly enough of him. I couldn’t have been where I’m at today without him, or without the support and push from my partner either!!

After receiving hundreds of messages from girls about how inspiring I was to them and asking for help I realised that I’d found something I had a true passion for and I wanted to help as many people as I could. I never want anybody to have to go through what I did. I truly believe that knowledge is the key.

I started my own community group called Brisbane Body Blitz, in which I ran boot camps, mountain climbs and circuits for 8 months for FREE to try and reach out to as many women as I could and to help educate girls about their bodies and what they were putting into themselves.

For me, the fitness industry isn’t about the money; it’s about helping people reach their goals and giving them the knowledge to carry on with them. My girls have grown from shy little girls into strong independent and motivated women. I couldn’t be more proud of them.

I may not be perfect, but I don’t strive to be anymore, I strive for progression not perfection...I am working darn hard to reach my goals, to be fitter, bigger and stronger both in mind and body!!

Right now all I’m thinking about is competition preparation in 2012; I plan on owning that stage with the help of my comp coach Melissa LeMan.

yeah

My mind is in the best mind frame it has ever been in and I am super excited to start my comp season!! I’ll have many more goals and ambitions to add to the list once I’ve conquered the stage for the first time. It’s about believing in yourself and pursuing your dreams, whatever they may be.
