Tell us about how you got involved in the Health and Fitness Industry? About 12 years ago I had a serious spinal accident, which left me quite debilitated. A spinal surgeon told me when I was 22, that I needed to become as “fit as a professional footballer” or face the fact that I would more than likely be wheelchair bound by the age of 40. It was then that I became serious about overcoming this injury, so I joined the local gym and started very slowly with some core strengthening work, the next thing you know I was working there! I walked away from my upcoming career in the corporate world with my passion for the health and fitness industry growing and I figured, I have to incorporate this into my life, so why not get paid to do it and maybe help other people beat their physical restrictions. |

What made you decide to start competing as a SportsModel? Funny question. Who knows! I would say that I’m a very driven individual, and I’ve never been satisfied sitting back and breezing my way through life. It was just at a point in time when the time was right and I needed something extra to focus on and achieve. I had a background in competing and performing in another sport, I wanted something that correlated within the fitness industry, so I just set my eyes on SportsModel competitions as it was the opening avenue. I never knew it would take me to the places I have been to, and I never expected to succeed so much with it. Can you run us through your competition history? |

Motivation comes from within, 100%. I have never been one to idolize anyone else within the competition world or even the health and fitness industry, so I guess I am saying I am not trying to be just like anybody else – I think you do it for the wrong reasons if you strive to outdo someone else or to be the carbon copy of another. I believe my motivation comes from myself, to always do better for myself and those who are closest to me. My motivation is and always has been to make a great life for myself and be the best at something I shine in. Favorite Exercise and why? Snatch Grip Barbell Deadlifts from the floor. There is something very satisfying about pulling a heavy bar from the floor; it makes one feel very powerful in the weights room. Plus I think it’s good for women (and men) to be strong, apart from the physiological benefits, mentally it’s great for your confidence! Best thing about being a Personal Trainer for Clean Health? I think it’s great to be a part of a team that is known and recognized as being one of the leading personal training companies in Australia. It is the crème de la crème of quality training services and nobody can dispute that we as a team, go above and beyond for the interest and goals of our clients. To work for, there are so many opportunities within the company, we provide our staff with a lot of support and help our trainers follow their dreams within the health and fitness industry by up skilling and offering trainer incentives. What are your specialty areas? I provide direction in the specialty areas for Clean Health services. These days I still do train a few elite clients on a weekly basis that consist of fitness models, other personal trainer’s all the way through to middle aged women trying to beat back fat! With the fitness models, I do enjoy coaching the young up and coming girls through the whole process from their nutrition, training all the way through to their presentation which is the quite often the missing link between a girl placing on stage. Plenty have great bodies, but can they present it? |

Although I enjoy training clients I tend to spend most of my time now consulting new clients to the business with their nutrition and BioSignature which is a method of hormonal assessment created by world renowned Strength Coach Charles Poliquin. Without proper hormonal health, correct nutrition and lifestyle management techniques results with clients are going to be a lot harder to come by. So that initial assessment procedure that I carry out with new clients is crucial to them having success during our 12 and 24 week personal training programs. Of late I have also begun to get more involved in carrying out Trigenics treatments on our clients, which involves the practice of strengthening or lengthening a muscle through nerve innervation. Through doing this I am able to increase client’s strength and range of movement instantly which will translate into them being able to achieve greater results! |
