My decision to get into the fitness industry was shortly after I lost my mother to cancer, I was nineteen years old and faced with the loss of the most important person in my life. I realized then that I had to rely on myself for most of my future decisions. Not only was my mom a wonderful mother, loved by many, she was the warmest, most helpful, caring human being who left an impression upon anyone that was lucky enough to meet her. She is still very missed and in the thoughts of so many to this day. |

I am frequently reminded. I was the youngest of five children; my father grew very dependent on me because I was still living at home. I had a lot of anxiety, sadness and anger that needed to be channeled in a healthy direction. I realized I was not as carefree as my friends at the time, I felt very lost. I decided to join a gym. Exercise became my outlet. I felt as though I could take on the world after my workouts. I began to feel less tense and clearer minded. There was a returned self confidence that I had not felt in a while. Things began to look brighter and I was starting to see the world a bit more optimistically. |

The gym had become a part of my daily routine. My father noticed the changes in me, both mentally and physically. He was happy that I had found something to enjoy. My dad was a heavy smoker and was diagnosed with emphysema. He died five years after my mother. The loss of both parents at such crucial times in my life was truly a test of my inner strength. I could have gone either way, become a stronger person or give into weakness. What motivates me is having a PURPOSE. I feel that if I can affect people in a positive way, my life is fulfilled. Training my clients and pushing them out of their comfort zone motivates me. I love to help them become aware of all that they are. I am motivated to set an example for my children. I want to show them that anything is possible at any age if you believe it is possible. I believe that commitment and dedication are huge factors in making thoughts become reality. I am motivated to become that example to them. |

I make time for myself by getting to the gym or at-home work out to de-stress. I also love to meditate and find a peaceful state of mind. I keep a vision board which keeps me on track with my goals; I created a board with all that I plan to achieve. It is important to have your dreams and goals set out in front of you, it is my life planner and it keeps me focused and motivated to live with purpose and intention. Though the thought of competing never actually thrilled me, I felt it needed to be done to be seen and heard in the fitness industry. |

What I liked about competing was the fact that it forced my shyness away. I felt that by doing these on stage competitions with bright lights and a packed audience, I was just going to have to face and overcome another fear. This was a good thing, another sense of fulfillment. It was about letting go of inhibitions and realizing that I'm here for a reason, I represent fitness. I loved it and I was very happy to have competed. It has been a wonderful, positive experience. I’m actually competing in what will be my fourth show at the end October in the FAP NY Show 2011, last year placing 2nd in Bikini Classic division, and having placed in the top ten in the Fitness Model Division this past April, 2011 at the Fitness New England Show at Mohegan Sun in CT. I have much to say for men and women that feel a lack of hope for weight loss and living a quality life. First of all its never too late to incorporate exercise into your life. Unfortunately, most people over the age of 40 feel that their life is over.. this is so far from the truth because your life could be just beginning again. |

Just a small change can help turn your attitude from negative to positive, just begin with small steps. For example, just ten minutes a day of walking outdoors absorbing all of the beauty of nature can be a great first step. It doesn't have to be a vigorous walk, just gradual exertion, eventually this walk may become a brisk walk and then a light jog. However the case may be, it all starts with one small step toward healthy living. Procrastination is a big factor in beginning an exercise program as many people feel that its easy to put off because its not important enough to them and results don't come quickly enough. This winds up changing their mindset to even try..However; in reality they need to realize that it is one of the most important things you can do for yourself if you want to begin living a quality life. Although it may seem like such a chore to exercise, they need to know just how beneficial it is for their mind and body. The endorphins that are released during exercise are like happy pills to the soul. |

If they would just add ten minutes of exercise onto their daily to-do list, they would experience just how beneficial exercise can be by increasing their energy level, helping in blood circlulation, clearer thinking, a happier self and greater sense of well being. Remember too, that its never too late to begin taking care of yourself and start reaping the benefits of exercise. There are no negatives to exercising, it's all good and its never too late to begin! |
