Strength, confidence and inner peace are all feelings that come to mind when I am physically active.

Growing up I was into all types of sports.

Athletics was an outlet for me to gain new energy and balance in other parts of my life.
Being active is a form of meditation to me.  It keeps me grounded; I feel alive. Early in my childhood, I found that running became my sport of choice.

I loved the feelings that I experienced when I raced:  the fear, the freedom and the excitement.

What always impressed me was that whenever I thought I truly could not take another step, I somehow found it within myself to dig deeper and pick up the pace. It became a thrill to physically and mentally challenge myself.

Track and Field was an important part of my life for 15 years.  My aspirations were to earn a full track scholarship while pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.

It wasn’t always easy and at times achieving my goals seemed overwhelming. Life  can take twists and turns that you did not expect. However, it’s how you deal with them that counts.
Over the years, I’ve continued to set challenging goals in all aspects of my life. I continually seek to evolve to be the best I can.

As a Physiotherapist for the past 13 years, I followed my passion for the health profession. Recently I have taken on a new career as an Orthopaedic Sales Representative in the Trauma division and truly feel that this new career path is where I need to be.  Being intellectually stimulated is just as important to me as being physically challenged. One feeds off the other.

So how did I get into Fitness?

Well, after a few years of not racing track and even though I continued to train, run and participate in other sports, I missed the rush I felt when I competed.  I have always had an interest in Fitness competitions and in December of 2009 the timing to take on this new feat seemed right.

What attracted me to the world of Fitness were the discipline, training and intensity required. To continually test your mental and physical strength.  Regardless of my competition results, my intention was to fully live this experience to the maximum. Bring my best and improve from one competition to another.

The whole preparation required for the competition is such an exciting and rewarding process.  Being on stage at the end of it all is like reaching the summit. In March of last year I competed and won my first competition with Fitness Star. It gave me the desire to continue on this path and see where it takes me.

Fitness gives me that feeling that I used to have when I ran track. That inner flame!

During this journey, I have met many interesting people and have developed great friendships along the way. I feel blessed to have the support of my family and friends in all aspects of my life.  Having such a fulfilled personal life is critical to my success.
I am coached by Dickens Lambert of BIO3 and could not ask for better mentor, coach and guidance.  I am also fortunate to have the amazing support of TNT NUTRITION.

As for my future goals, I would like to continue to push myself to new heights in all aspects of my life and see where it takes me. It is just the beginning….

In essence, what I am trying to say is that it’s about finding something that resonates within you, which challenges you on many levels and makes you whole. Living each experience like it was the first time! It is all about trying to create a balance between the mind and body.

I believe we personally are the ones who can decide what is possible and we are the ones who can overcome the obstacles we face on the path of achieving our goals. Life is what you make it, so make it yours.

Never give up, reach for the top!!!!
